Jason is one of the top students in the UNSW Master of Interpreting and Translation program. He has demonstrated academic excellency and great leadership in the courses he has studied in the program. This is particularly reflected in his performance in the Translation Practicum course. Jason was one of the two project managers who were managing a team of about 30 Chinese students, providing translation services for real clients. From direct communication with clients, project design, workflow management, application of technology, quality control, internal communication, to service delivery, Jason has demonstrated outstanding abilities in coordination, time management, effective communication and most impressively, critical application of translation technology. With his attention to details and excellent problem-solving abilities, Jason was able to identify and resolve highly technical problems for different translation projects, and then implement solutions by effective communication with all team members. With his technical support and meticulous management, the team successfully worked out an effective workflow to process highly technical texts with customized website coding with leading translation tools. This made the team of 30 students work seamlessly in different translation projects, achieving great consistency, productivity and overall customer satisfaction. As a result of his leadership and contributions, the Chinese team in that semester was able to complete a total amount of 104,275 words of translation for numerous clients over the period of twelve study weeks. Many of Jason’s ideas and methods have now been formalised into standard practice in managing translation projects in the practicum course.

In 2014, Yael made a big decision to leave his international pharmaceutical career to study the Master of Translation and Interpreting degree at UNSW. Although starting from scratch, Yael was able to integrate his maturity and years of professional work experience into his studies, and excel in every aspect.
Apart from achieving academic excellency in all of the courses, Yael has also demonstrated great professionalism over the course of his studies. In varies translation practicum projects, Yael has proven himself a highly efficient team leader, project managers and communicator. He managed multilingual projects that involved around 30 students across 4 different language streams with practical planning, execution and control. He was also able to quickly master new translation technologies on his own and effectively implement them into his project management workflows.
Yael has proven himself an excellent interpreter. So far, he was the only student that was capable enough to be offered an opportunity to interpret with a professional conference interpreter at the same level at the World Park Congress while he was still studying in the program.
Yael was also featured in UNSW news (click here to read) as a student who has achieved great success in his studies. He won inaugural AUSIT Student Excellence Award (click here to read) at the end of his studies.
